Timbaland Signs with Roc Nation

Jay-Z has added another major player to the Roc Nation with the announcement on Wednesday (January 30) that super producer Timbaland is now in the fold.
With a picture of the two old friends and collaborators chilling in a studio, Jay broke the news on his "Life & Times" blog with the caption, "Roc Nation welcomes Timbaland to the family." The news comes as Tim is back in the news thanks to his signature skittering beat on old friend Justin Timberlake's comeback single, "Suit & Tie."
The move makes sense, since Jay and Tim have a long, storied history making big hits, from 1998's "Jigga What, Jigga Who" from the rapper's third album, Vol. 2: Hard Knock Life to one of Jay-Z's biggest hits, "Big Pimpin'," from Vol. 3 ... Life and Times of S. Carter. They hooked up again on 2003's The Black Album for "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" and in 2009 on The Blueprint 3's "Off That" featuring Drake. Other tunes they've collaborated on include "Hola Hovito" from The Blueprint and "What They Gonna Do" and "The Bounce" from The Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse.

Tim's long career as a producer goes back 20 years to his early work with Jodeci and Aaliyah. In the years since he's worked with everyone from frequent collaborator Missy Elliot, to Janet Jackson, Usher, Nas, Eminem, No Doubt, Timberlake, Ludacris, Jennifer Lopez, Jamie Foxx, M.I.A., OneRepublic and Chris Brown.

TRA Wanajipanga Kuchukua Kodi kwa Wamiliki wa Nyumba za Kupanga

 

UONGOZI wa Mamlaka ya Mapato Tanzania (TRA), wamesema wanakuna vichwa juu ya jinsi ambavyo watafanikisha kukusanya kodi kutoka kwa wenye nyumba nchini wanaofanya biashara ya kuzipangisha.

Kamishna Mkuu wa TRA, Harry Kitillya alisema jijini hapa mwishoni mwa wiki kwamba kuna changamoto nyingi katika ukusanyaji wa kodi kutoka kwenye nyumba zilizopangishwa.
Alisema ni kawaida kwa kila mtu anayepata fedha kihalali lazima alipe kodi, lakini utaratibu wa kudai kodi kutoka kwenye nyumba zilizopangishwa bado unatafutwa.
“Katika ukusanyaji wa kodi changamoto ipo kwenye kukusanya kodi inayotokana na biashara ya upangisaji, kwa sababu wenye nyumba wengine hawataki kuonyesha mikataba halisi, lakini sasa tumepata wazo tofauti ambalo tunalifanyia kazi ni kutafiti kwamba bei za nyumba za kupanga kulingana na eneo husika, mfano tukijua Masaki wanapangisha nyumba kwa kiasi gani tutakuwa tumepata pa kuanzia, pia tunataka kulifanya suala hili kwa kuhakikisha sheria inatumika ipasavyo,” alisema Kitillya.

Kitillya aliyasema hayo wakati akizungumza na waandishi wa habari muda mfupi baada ya kumalizika kwa sherehe za Mahafali ya Tano ya Chuo cha Kodi, kilichopo jijini Dar es Salaam, ambapo wahitimu walikuwa ni 435 miongoni wakiwamo wanawake 137 sawa na asilimia 31.

Awali katika mahafali hayo Mwenyekiti wa Baraza la chuo hicho, Profesa Palamagamba Kabudi akitoa hotuba yake alisema katika kuhakikisha wanatoa huduma kwa wadau wote wa mfumo wa kodi udahili wa wanafunzi umekuwa ukiongezeka mwaka hadi mwaka.
Alisema hadi sasa chuo kimeweza kutoa jumla ya wahitimu 1,780 tangu mwaka 2007 kiliposajiliwa. “Chuo kimeweza kuingiza mapato ya Sh3,333,043,499.44 kwa kipindi cha miaka minne, chuo kimejiwekea mpango wake ambao unaanza kutekelezwa katika mwaka ujao wa fedha’’ alisema.
Kwa upande wake Naibu Waziri wa Fedha, Saada Mkuya aliyekuwa mgeni rasmi katika mahafali hayo, katika hotuba yake aliwapongeza wahitimu hao na kuwataka watumie vyema ujuzi na maarifa waliyopata kwa faida ya taifa, ikiwa ni pamoja na kuongeza ufanisi katika usimamizi wa kodi na kuwasaidia walipakodi watimize wajibu wao wa kulipa kodi kwa hiari.(Mwananchi)

Rihanna Opens up on her Reconciliation with Chris Brown

She left many fans horrified when she reconciled with on/off boyfriend Chris Brown last year.
However, Rihanna is unrepentant about her decision to forgive him for beating her nearly four years ago, admitted she decided to put her emotions first.
Speaking to the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine, the 24-year-old insists their relationship is 'different now' compared to when they originally dated in 2007-2009.
In the interview, Rihanna appears to officially confirm they are an item again following Chris's split from model Karrueche Tran last October.

After Chris was arrested for assaulting Rihanna on the way home from a pre-Grammys party in Los Angeles in February 2009, she admitted she want to punish him, even though she still loved him.
She explains: 'I wanted him to know what it felt like to lose me. To feel the consequences of that. So when that (stuff) came back it hit me like a ton of bricks.

Flooding in three southern states of Mozambique has killed at least 40 people, with several reports of a death toll of up to 70. Low-lying coastal areas of the southern African country have been hit especially hard in this year's rainy season.
Flooding in 2000 killed 700 people and displaced millions.This time, boats are being used to evacuate thousands of people.
Helicopters from both Mozambique and South Africa's militaries have had to rescue those stranded on the rooftops of their homes.
Around 100,000 people have been affected in Gaza province alone according to the UN, which estimates more than 11 million euros will be needed for aid to prevent the spread of diseases.
The Chikahalani camp is now home to 65,000 people but only has 28 toilets.

President Obama Joins Immigration Reform Push

US President Barack Obama will try to build support later for an immigration overhaul, a day after a bipartisan group of senators said the time was right for reform. Mr Obama will present his plan at a high school in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It is expected to mirror the senators’ framework, though possibly with a faster path to citizenship for many of the 11 million undocumented immigrants. The move reflects the growing influence of Hispanic voters.
Speaking at 11:15 local time (19:15 GMT) on Tuesday, Mr Obama will make his case for an immigration revamp, which is expected to largely reflect a blueprint he rolled out in 2011.
Mr Obama is not expected to unveil legislation, but to rally support for the proposals promoted on Monday by a group of four Democratic and four Republican senators.

Bouncers block only exit as flares set the ceiling alight
A BAND sets off fireworks in a packed club — just moments before a blaze broke out killing 233 people.
Sparks from the display, ignited as part of the act, hit the ceiling — sparking the devastating inferno in Brazil.
Many died after inhaling toxic fumes, while others were crushed in a battle to get out.
Bouncers, initially unaware of the unfolding horror, were baffled by the sudden exodus and blocked the only exit.
Many revellers mistook the club’s toilets for the way out. Their bodies were found “stacked” inside. Some 2,000 people were in the Kiss club in Santa Maria when flames ripped through it at 2.30am.

Cop Luiza Souza said the singer wore a glove with a firework attached that was set off by remote control. He added: “The sparks hit sponge on the ceiling above the stage and from there the fire spread.”
Witnesses said the singer grabbed a fire extinguisher but it didn’t work. The band’s accordionist Danilo Jaques, was among the dead. Many victims were aged 16 to 20. A further 116 people were hurt.

Survivor Rodrigo Moura, 20, said: “Had the extinguisher worked nobody would have died.”
Murilo Tiecher, 26, said: “Bouncers were holding the exit door shut. It seemed they thought people were trying to leave because of a fight and didn’t want them to go without paying for drinks.” The bar had a tab arrangement.

Pope’s Dove of Peace Almost Ends in Pieces: Seagull Attacks Bird Seconds After Pontiff Releases it From Vatican Balcony

A young boy (right) releases the dove of peace next to the Pope during the Angelus prayer in Saint Peter’s square at the Vatican. Releasing a dove is a symbolic appeal for peace. But when the Pope tried it yesterday, it led to quite a flap. Nobody had bargained on a resident seagull who apparently hadn’t been listening to the Holy Father’s sermon.
It swooped in and attacked the bird of peace as soon as Pope Benedict XVI released the dove from a balcony at the Vatican.
Watched by thousands of pilgrims below the fearsome gull, leading with its beak, chased and harried the terrified dove as it tried to escape among the ancient pillars and porticos.
Some 2,000 youngsters from Rome had marched to St Peter’s Square for the annual ‘Caravan of Peace’ which takes place on the last Sunday of January and finishes with the release of two white doves by the Pope shortly after the Angelus prayer.

It is not the first time the Pope’s prayers have not protected his birds of peace. Last year the two doves he released turned tail and flew straight back in through the open window.

‘They want to stay in the Pope’s home,’ Benedict had said.What he had to say about yesterday’s kerfuffle was not known. But someone must have said a quick little prayer, as the dove eventually made good its escape.

Sweden's Ministry of Justice has received a draft EU document on how to tackle "marriages of convenience" as part of a union-wide effort to clamp down on liaisons entered into solely for residency rights.

The Zanzibar Doors of Butiama

The Zanzibar door at the Kagera residence, Butiama, at the entrance to the personal library of Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere that houses more than 8,000 volumes. A Zanzibar chest is seen on the lower left side.
There are (probably) only two Zanzibar doors in Mara region and they are all found in Butiama, at Mwitongo.
When the war between Idi Amin's Uganda and Tanzania under President Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere ended in 1979, the Tanzanian army chose to build a house for its commander-in-chief as a gift for the victory against Idi Amin's forces.

Over a hilltop, steps from where he was born and is now buried, he pointed to a spot where he wanted the house to be built. We refer to the house as the Kagera residence, using Tanzania's preferred naming of the 1978-9 war with Uganda: the Kagera War.
During the construction of the Kagera residence the then president of Zanzibar, Salmin Amour, donated two Zanzibar doors to the house. One of these doors is located at the house's entrance while the second one is located at the entrance of the personal library of Mwalimu Nyerere that contains more than 8,000 volumes.
The doors are not as elaborately decorated as this one, but they provide a unique view and serve as a permanent link between Butiama and Zanzibar.

Katika vurugu hizo wanakijiji hao walivunja vioo vya madirisha ya baadhi ya nyumba tano za kulala wageni, kuharibu gari dogo aina ya Landcruser pamoja na kupora mali mbalimbali zi nazodaiwa kumilikiwa na wafanyabiashara wa jamii ya Kimasai.

Kabla ya kufanya uharibifu huo saa 2:30 asubuhi, wananchi hao walifanya maandamano sambamba na kusimama katikati ya barabara, hali iliyosababisha polisi kufika eneo hilo kwa ajili ya kuwadhibiti.

Askari wa Kutuliza Ghasia (FFU), walifika eneo la tukio 5:20 asubuhi na kufanikiwa kuwatawanya wananchi hao kwa kutumia mabomu ya machozi, hatimaye kufungua barabara hiyo.

BURGER King is dumping millions of beef-burgers supplied by the horsemeat scandal firm — days after insisting it was unaffected. Managers have been told to box up Whoppers, Angus burgers and patties in a safe area and mark them with an X to ensure they are not sold to customers.
An internal memo also insists they “clean and sanitize” pans and sinks and throw away dishcloths used in the process
The burger scandal broke on Tuesday last week after horse DNA was found at ABP Foods’ Silvercrest meat processing factory in Ireland.
Asda and Tesco immediately withdrew some burgers. But last Thursday Burger King said: “We confirm Burger King will not be withdrawing product. This is because Burger King only sources 100 per cent UK and Irish beef and ensures the integrity of our production line.”

Deadly Prison Riot in Venezuela Leaves 50 People Dead

More than 50 people have been killed in a prison riot in western Venezuela, hospital staff say. The riot was triggered when local media broadcast news that soldiers had been sent to Uribana prison in Barquisimeto to search for weapons, Prisons Minister Iris Varela said.Hospital director Ruy Medina told AFP news agency that some 90 people were injured, mostly from gunshot wounds. The dead are thought to include inmates, guards and prison workers.

The director of Barquisimeto hospital, Ruy Medina, put the death toll at 54, Venezuela's Clarin newspaper reported.Venezuelan Human rights activist Carlos Nieto Palma told BBC Mundo: "What should have been a normal procedure in any prison ended in a clash between National Guard [soldiers] and inmates."
He added that Uribana prison was among the most dangerous in the country.
Opposition leader Henrique Capriles blamed the violence on "incompetent and irresponsible government".Venezuela's prisons are blighted by overcrowding and the proliferation of weapons and drugs. (BBC)
