Famous African musician from DRC Papa Wemba, 2 Face Idibia from Nigeria, Tanzanian rapper Ambwene Yessaya ‘AY’ and Daddy Owen from Kenya are set to perform at the closing ceremony of the U17 African Pan-African champions – Airtel Rising Stars at the Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi on Saturday.

The Airtel Rising Stars Pan-African tournament was launched on Monday, 20th August by the Kenyan’s Prime Minister Raila Odinga and 15 countries are participating. The final game will be broadcasted live on Super Sport.
The countries that are participating are – Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar, Malawi, Ghana, Zambia, Gabon, DRC, Burkina Faso, Chad, Congo Brazzaville, Uganda, Niger, Nigeria and Sierra Leone. If the results remain the same until the final whistle, it will mean the end of journey to the Tanzania team. The team lost 1-0 in the opening match against Gabon on Tuesday before settling to 1-1 with Burkina Faso on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Manchester United goalkeeping legend Peter Schmeichel is set to grace the finals of the Airtel Rising Stars African Championship in Nairobi on Saturday. Schmeichel has been bestowed with the honour of unveiling the most awaited list of players who have been selected to attend the prestigious Arsenal and Manchester United camp in the UK.

The Countries that have rolled out the Airtel Rising Stars include Tanzania, Burkina Faso, Chad, Republic of Congo (Congo Brazzaville), Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Madagascar, Nigeria, Niger, Sierra Leone, Uganda and Zambia.
Airtel has two territorial partnership agreements with Arsenal and Manchester United Football Clubs. The two agreements bestow several rights to Airtel as the telecommunication partner in the selected markets. Key amongst the rights is the technical expertise provided by the two clubs at the Airtel Rising Stars soccer clinics. The clinics are run by respective club’s soccer schools programme.
