Aliyekuwa mfanyikazi wa shirika la Ujasusi la CIA nchini Marekani Edward Snowden, aliyetoa siri ya serikali yake kuchunguza mitandao na mawasiliano ya simu za watu duniani sasa hajulikani aliko. Snowden, ambaye alifichua siri hiyo akiwa Hong Kong ametoweka baada ya kuondoka ghafla kwenye hoteli alimokuwa anaishi. Mwanaume huyo mwenye umri wa miaka 29 alisema kuwa aliamua kutoa siri hiyo akiwa na lengo la kuwakomboa watu duniani kutoka kwa serikali ya Marekani na kuonesha nchi yake kuwa ni sharti iheshimu haki na uhuru wa watu.
Ilibainika wiki iliyopita kuwa idara ya ujasusi nchini Marekani ilikuwa inakusanya Mamilioni ya rekodi za simu na pia imekuwa ikichunguza watumizi wa mitandao. Idara ya ujasusi nchini Marekani imesema kuwa hatua ya Snowden kutoka siri hiyo ni kosa kubwa la kihalifu na anafanyiwa uchunguzi ili kufunguliwa mashtaka. Awali Snowden aliomba kupewa hifadhi katika kisiwa cha Iceland kutokana na ufichuzi wake ambao anaamini utamweka matatani baada ya kutoa siri ya serikali.
Ufichuzi huu umezua mjadala nchini Marekani kuhusu mpango wa serikali kuyataka kuchunguza mitandao suala ambalo wanasema ni kuingilia uhuru wa watu. Rais Barrack Obama ametetea mpango huo wa idara ya ujasusi kama njia mojawapo ya kupambana na ugaidi duniani na kuhakikisha kuwa Marekani inakuwa salama.

Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Sued Forbes For Under Estimating His Wealth From $30billion To $20Billion.

According to Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, he is worth $30 billion dollars and not $20 billion as stated by Forbes in its 2013 rich men and women list both on its websites and magazines. Prince Alwaleed bin Talal was so vessed to the point that he sued the fortune 500 company to court…

The Saudi prince sued Forbes magazine for libel because it said he was only worth $20billion in its annual rich list instead of $30billion. Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, one of the world’s richest businessmen, claims the magazine underestimated his wealth by £9.6billion when it placed him at 26th in this year’s list. Being listed as worth $29.6billion would have placed him in the list’s top ten. Alwaleed accused Forbes as been ‘flawed and inaccurate, displays bias against Middle East investors and financial institutions’ in an interview with the Sunday Telegraph in March. The prince has now brought libel action against the magazine’s publisher Randall Lane and two journalists in the High Court in London, reports the Guardian. He will claim that the Rich List caused serious harm to his reputation and to his company Kingdom Holdings’ finances. His company Kingdom Holdings controls investments including stakes in Apple, Facebook, Twitter and Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp.
His property includes the Savoy Hotel, the Plaza in New York, the Four Seasons hotel chain and a stake in the owners of London’s Canary Wharf complex. Forbes calculated the prince’s wealth based on the value of his known investments instead of Kingdom’s share price on the Taduwal, the Saudi stock exchange, it said.

On 7 June, representatives of the European Union met with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals to debrief on theresults of a fact finding mission to Tanzania from the European Commission. This mission, dealing with cooperation innuclear safety, security and safeguards of uranium-mining, was initiated after the visit of Minister Muhongo to theEuropean Union in Brussels from 12-13 April 2013. The mission was composed of experts from the Directorate Generalfor Development and Cooperation and the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission responsible for theInstrument for Nuclear Safety Cooperation.
The EU mission highlighted that the licensing process for uranium mining should be made according to the internationalstandards published by the International Atomic Energy Agency. This will be key to guarantee the safe uranium miningoperation. The licensing process relies on the role of the Regulatory Authorities that shall guarantee an independentreview of the safety and security provisions linked to..
