Historic First as Stockholm Imam Calls to Prayer - Fittja Mosque

Worshippers at the Fittja mosque in southern Stockholm on Friday heard Sweden's first-ever call to prayer, which brought some congregation members to tears of joy.
Guluz Kayhan, 45, had tears in her eyes when the notes of Sweden's first-ever call to prayer ended and worshippers hurried up the steps of the mosque.

"I don't go to the mosque as often as before but I wanted to experience this," she told The Local as she wiped tears from her blue eyes. Flanked by her two daughters, Kayhan made her way inside, slipping off her shoes. "I'm really proud of Sweden," said her daughters' friend Havva Göcmenoglu, 24. "I am proud of being part of a society that respects different religions."
Yet as the spring sun broke through the clouds after a bitterly dour morning, two men in a red Volvo 740 crept up to the curb and halted, just to spin their wheels so furiously the rubber shrieked as much as it burned. People making their way into the mosque turned their heads, but most seemed intent on ignoring the odd act. The congregation was a mix of people who moved to Sweden from countries such as Turkey decades ago, but a number of people who immigrated more recently joined in too.

Why I Hate School But Love Education -Spoken Word

As the cyclical and seemingly never ending debate about education rages on, the topic - somewhat ironically, often poses more questions than it provides answers. But what is the value of mainstream schooling?

 Why is it that some of the most high profile and successful figures within the Western world openly admit to never having completed any form of higher learning? Paying homage to Jefferson Bethke's "Why I Hate Religion but Love Jesus", a piece that received 22 million views in the space of a week, I address a number of these issues in my offering "Why I Hate School, but Love Education".

 With scores of school leavers wanting to further their education with no guarantee of their dream job at the end of it, we should ask ourselves whether qualifications still hold the same value now as they did in previous years? Does success in the school system correlate to success in life? Or is the school system simply geared towards fact retention and regurgitation? What is true education?

A Man Facing up to 15 Years in Prison After Raping His Pet Dogs

A man from Michigan recently found out he was facing up to 15 years in prison after he was convicted of raping with two of his pet dogs on two separate occasions. The same (unfortunate) person caught him both times.

According to Michigan Live News, 37-year-old Kurtis Peterson, a convicted sex offender, was first caught “penetrating” one of his dogs — a bluee heeler — by a woman named Joyce Yeaw at his apartment in Muskegon, Mich. on his bed in April 2012.
At the time, Peterson told her he was “just hugging his dog.” (Right…) But he was busted again by Joyce just two months later when she was returning keys she borrowed from his roommate, and she walked in on him having sex with his pit bull.

This time she called the cops (honestly she should have called them the first time…) and Peterson was arrested. Yeaw said, “He was having sex with the dog, it was disgusting.”

When Peterson was questioned by police, he claimed he was “just playing with the dog” in the April incident, but he became “sexually aroused from accidental contact from the animal’s rear,” which led to the later assault. It isn’t known whether..
