A living embodiment of Nelson Mandela was his ability to change even the mellow the most stubborn enemy with nothing more than his legendary charm and simplicity. So tactical was Mandela that his subtle political statements in sports matches effectively bridged years of racial divisions without him having to utter a word. One event that arguably healed South Africa's racial rift, was the 1995 Rugby World Cup hosted in his country where he turned up wearing the national team's green jersey, until then a defining symbol of white dominance.
