Kampeni ya kitaifa ya kuwaondoa wahamiaji haramu nchini iliyopewa jina la “Operesheni Kimbunga” awamu ya pili ambayo inaendelea katika baadhi ya mikoa ya Kanda ya Ziwa, imewanasa majambazi watano wanaojishughulisha na biashara ya kuuza silaha zinazotoka nchi jirani na kuziingiza nchini.

Naibu Kamishna wa operesheni hiyo, Simon Sirro, aliyasema hayo jana wakati akizungumza na waandishi wa habari Mjini Bukoba, mkoani Kagera, kuhusu maendeleo ya operesheni hiyo.
Alisema hadi sasa, majambazi 88 wamekamatwa miongoni mwao, watano wanaojihusisha na biashara ya kwenda nchini Burundi kununua silaha kwa sh. 300.000 na kuziingiza nchini na kuziuza kuanzia sh. milioni moja.
“Majambazi watatu wamebainika kusambaza silaha kwa wateja hapa nchini na majambazi wote ni Watanzania, jambazi mmoja alikuwa akifanya biashara ya kuuza mbuzi nchini Burundi.
“Baadaye alipoona biashara hiyo hailipi, aliwashawishi Watanzania wenzake kufanya biashara ya kuuza silaha ambayo ndiyo inawalipa hivyo kuanza biashara hiyo,” alisema kamanda Sirro bila kutaja majina ya majambazi hao.
Alisema operesheni hiyo awamu ya pili, ilianza Septemba 21 hadi Oktoba Mosi mwaka huu ikiwa na mafanikio makubwa ambapo wahalifu 529 walikamatwa na wahamiaji haramu 425 katika Mikoa ya Geita, Kigoma na Kagera.
Aliongeza kuwa, walioruhusiwa kwa uamuzi wa mahakama ni 159, waliorudishwa makwao kwa hiari 122, walioachiwa huru 39 na wanaoendelea kuhojiwa hadi sasa 105.
Kamanda Sirro alisema, watu watano wanashikiliwa kwa tuhuma ya kuwatorosha na kuwahifadhi wahamiaji na majangili 11 ambapo silaha mbalimbali 23 zimekamatwa.Silaha hizo ni pamoja na bunduki aina ya SMG, bastola, magobole 18, magazine mbili, bomu la kutupwa kwa mkono pamoja na sare moja ya Jeshi la Burundi.
Katika hatua nyingine, Kamanda Sirro alisema ng’ombe 2,220 wamekamatwa, 103 wanamilikiwa na Bw. Kalemela George, wilayani Biharamulo ambaye mahakama imetoa amri ya kutaifishwa baada ya kuwaingiza katika Hifadhi ya Taifa Biharamulo kinyume cha sheria.
“Natoa wito kwa wafanyabiashara wa nyama mjini Bukoba,kwenda kuwanunua kwa ajili ya kuchinja na kuuza, hatua ya kutaifisha mifugo ni nzuri...kesi nyingine za mifugo bado tunafanya utaratibu wa kuzifikisha mahakamani,” alisema.
Kaimu Mkuu wa Mkoa wa Kagera ambaye pia ni Mkuu wa Wilaya ya Missenyi, Kanali mstaafu Issa Njiku, alisema operesheni hiyo bado inaendelea pia itakuwa endelevu.
