OSCAR 2013; Congolese War Which Hopeful Gets US Visa

 Rachel Mwanza, star of the Oscar-nominated War Witch Mwanza was named best actress at last year's Berlin Film Festival.
The teenage star of an Oscar-nominated film about child soldiers in Africa has been granted a visa that will enable her to attend the Academy Awards.
Rachel Mwanza, from the Democratic Republic of Congo, plays the lead role in War Witch, the Canadian submission in the foreign language film category.
The 16-year-old was cast by Montreal film-maker Kim Nguyen despite having no previous acting experience.
She went on to be named best actress at the Berlin and Tribeca Film Festivals.
Nguyen, whose hard-hitting film also goes under its French title Rebelle, said his young star's story was "truly a Cinderella tale".
"Abandoned by her family and living on the streets as a child, her life has been transformed by the making of the film," he said in a statement.
"To have her journey end on the red carpet is beyond anything she could have dreamed of."
According to the Los Angeles Times, the makers of War Witch are trying to arrange a meeting between Mwanza and her "idol", singer Beyonce Knowles.
"That's all she talks about," producer Marie-Claude Poulin told the newspaper. "The only English words she knows are Beyonce and Rihanna songs."
With only three days to go before this year's ceremony, another Oscar contender has written about being briefly detained while trying to enter the US on Tuesday.
Emad Burnat, the Palestinian co-director of Oscar-nominated documentary 5 Broken Cameras, said he was held with his wife and son by immigration officials at Los Angeles International Airport for "about an hour".

Msanii huyo amepata ajali hiyo maeneo ya karibu kabisa na kituo cha Mabatini, wakati akiwa na msafara wa wasanii wenzake wanaoshiriki katika Movie hoyo, wakati wakielekea kuanza kurekodi.

Wasanii hao pamoja na Stive, walikuwa wakitokea katika Kambi yao iliyokuwa maalum kwa maandalizi ya kuanza kurekodi ikiwa ni pamoja na kufanyia mazoezi katika kambi hiyo iliyodumu kwa wiki kadhaa.

Ajali hiyo ilikuwa kama hivi:- Wakati Stive akiwa na baadhi ya washiriki wa movie yake katika gari lake na wakiwa katika mwendo kuelekea eneo la kushuti sini zao, ghafla aliona gari aina ya funcargo ikiwa imesimama mbele yake huku katikati ya barabara akiwapo jamaa aliyekuwa akisimamisha magari katika eneo hilo. Baada ya kushindwa kusimama kwa ghafla ndipo alipoigonga gari hiyo kwa nyuma na gari hiyo kutumbukia mtaroni.

Kushoto ni gari ya Stive yenye namba za usajiri T 779 BZL na (kulia) ni gari lililohusika na ajali hiyo lenye namba za usajiri T 584 BQV.

Mashuhuda wa ajali hiyo walieleza kuwa chanzo cha ajali hiyo ni Fundi umeme aliyekuwa akisimamisha magari katika eneo hilo ili kuweza kuondoa waya wa Umeme uliokatika na kulala katikati ya barabara huku ukiwa na moto, ili kuepusha madhara zaidi.

Baada ya ajali hiyo, walifika askari Polisi wakiambatana na askari wa usalama barabarani, ambapo alianza kupima ajali hiyo huku madereva wakijibizana na fundi aliyesimamisha magari, ambapo majibizano hayo yaliingiliwa kati na mmoja kati ya askari waliofika eneo hilo.

Katika majibizano hayo baina ya fundi, Askari na madereva wote wawili, ndipo kulitokea kupishana kauli baina ya Stive na Askari huyo, aliyediriki kumuita Stive mjinga, ambapo Stive alishindwa kuvumilia na kuamua kumjibu na ndipo alipokunjwa 'Tanganyika Jeki' na kukokotwa hadi katika gari walilokuja nalo askari hao na kumpakia na kisha kuondoka naye kuelekea katika Kituo cha Mabatini.

SIKU chache baada ya kutokea kifo cha Padri Evarist Gabriel Mushi na watu wasiojulikana kwa kupigwa risasi kichwani eneo la Beit el Raas, Jana Imamu wa Msikiti wa Mwakaje amefariki dunia baada ya kupigwa mapanga hadi kufa.
Kwa mujibu wa maelezo ya Kamanda wa Polisi Mkoa wa Kaskazini Unguja, Ahmada Khamis amethibitisha kutokea kwa tukio hilo hapo jana mchana majira ya saa 8 mchana na kumtaja aliyefariki ni Sheikh Ali Khamis ambaye ameuawa na watu wasiojulikana.

Kamanda Ahmada alisema Sheikh Khamis mbali ya kuwa ni Imamu wa Msikiti lakini pia ni mkulima na ameuliwa wakati akiwa katika mazingira ya kazi zake ndani ya shamba lake huko Kidoti Mkoa wa Kaskazini Unguja.
Akielezea mazingira ya tukio hilo Kamanda Ahmada alisema tukio hilo limetokea baada ya Sheikh Khamis kwenda shambani kwake katika shmba la minazi Kidoti ambapo wakati akiwa shambani hapo ndipo walipotokea watu kadhaa na kumpiga mapanga sehemu za shingoni mwake na kusababisha kifo chake muda mfupi baada ya kipigo hicho.
Alisema baada ya tukio hilo, watu walimchukua na kumkimbizwa hospitali lakini kutokana na kupoteza damu nyingi alifariki dunia wakati akiwa njiani na hivyo harakati za mazishi zinafanyika za kumzika baada ya kuchukuliwa vipimo vya wataalamu wa afya.
Kamanda Ahmada ametoa wito kwa wananchi kutopuuzia taarifa za watu ambao wanawashuku na wenye kuleta maafa yakiwemo mauaji hapa nchini, kwani kuwaficha wahalifu ni kuendeleza utamaduni usiofaa katika jamii ambayo imeanza kuharibika kutokana na mauaji hayo yanayoendelea kila kukicha.
Hili ni tukio la nne kwa viongozi wa dini kuhujumiwa ambapo tukio la kwanza Sheikh Fadhil Suleiman Soraga kumwagiwa tindi kali na watu wasiojulikana na kujeruhiwa vibaya wakati akifanya mazoezi nyakati za asubuhi karibu na nyumbani kwake Magomeni, tukio la pili ni lile la Padri Ambrose Mkenda aliyepigwa mapanga shingoni na kurejuhiwa vibaya na watu wasiojulikana wakati akitaka kuingia nyumbani kwake huko Tomondo Mjini Unguja. matukio hayo mawili yalitokea mwaka jana.
